Somebody or nobody

In Europe when people are people,

I become not a person,

But something is asking,

Don’t you want to be somebody?

In US when people are not people,

I become a person,

But something is saying,

Do not be a person, go away you person!

Does this contradiction mean something?

It has something to do with something inside, not outside.
